Nassau County Aquatic Center Offers College Students Special Membership During Winter Break

Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano announces that County residents who are college students can enjoy a special “College Total Health Pass” to the Nassau County Aquatic Center during winter break that provides unlimited access to the Olympic-size swimming pool and the state-of-the-art fitness center overlooking the pool, for a fee of only $35. The Health Pass is good from December 15 through January 31, 2011.

In order to be eligible, students must show a valid college I.D. plus a Nassau County Leisure Pass. If a student does not have a Leisure Pass, one can be purchased for $25. The Leisure Pass, available only to Nassau County residents, is good for three years.

Centrally located in Eisenhower Park on Merrick Avenue in East Meadow, the Nassau County Aquatic Center is one of the premier swimming facilities in the country. Built in 1998 for the Goodwill Games, it serves the general public as well as competitive swimmers. The Aquatic Center regularly hosts college and local high school competitive swimming and diving meets and has hosted scores of Olympians, including Michael Phelps.

The Aquatic Center is open seven days a week, but will be closed during the holiday season on December 25 and January 1. For more information about the Aquatic Center, call (516) 572-0501.
