Permits Information

The Nassau County Department of Parks, Recreation and Museums provides a wide array of recreational opportunities, some of which require permits:

• Picnic areas may be reserved by obtaining a permit directly through the park. Reservations begin on the first Monday in February each year. Click here for a listing of parks.
  
  
• Athletic field and special event permits (i.e., walkathons, fund-raisers, special event parking, etc.) can only be obtained by putting your request in writing and mailing it to:

In addition, you may send permit requests and other information by fax to 516-572-0236.

You must include the name of your organization or group; the nature of the event; the park requested; the date and time; the expected number of participants; and a contact person with phone and fax numbers and, if possible, an e-mail address.

Please note that field permits require a minimum two weeks' notice.

Please note that reservations cannot be taken by phone. For picnic permits, please call individual active parks.

• Wedding ceremony and photography permits can be obtained by clicking on the links or by calling 516-572-0232.

• Boat launch stickers can be obtained at Bay Park, Grant Park, North Woodmere Park or Wantagh Park. A fee of $50 is required, along with a current Leisure Pass and boat registration. Please note that the permit sticker must be affixed to the trailer by park personnel at the time of payment.
  
• Camping reservations are made through the Battle Row and Nickerson Beach campgrounds. Click here for link to campgrounds listing.
