New Cassel Farmers' Market Welcomed

Nassau County Legislator Robert Troiano (D-Westbury) had the pleasure recently of welcoming the Unified New Cassel Community Revitalization Corporation’s, (UNCCRC), farmers’ market.During the grand opening festivities held in the parking lot of the First Baptists Cathedral in Westbury, Legislator Troiano said, “I am so happy that UNCCRC was successful in bringing this program to New Cassel/Westbury. Not only is it consistent with Michelle Obama’s national program to make fresh food available to nutritionally underserved communities, it also enhances the growth, energy and excitement of Prospect Avenue while providing our young people with employment and an opportunity to learn how to run a business.”

The market provides fresh, affordable Long Island produce to residents of New Cassel, Westbury and the surrounding community and it is staffed by local youth. The farmers’ market is open every Saturday through November 19 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
