Christopher Morley Offers Summer Exercise "Boot Camp"

Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano announces that Christopher Morley Park in Roslyn-North Hills will host a “Boot Camp” exercise program in August. Boot Camp is a total-body, military-style program that includes a variety of cardiovascular and strength-training exercises.

The program is part of County Executive Mangano’s “Fit Nassau” initiative, which is designed to encourage residents to pursue a more healthful lifestyle.

The program will be offered as a three-week-long session made up of nine one-hour classes. The classes, beginning August 1, will be held Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The fee is $60. Additionally, participants must have a Leisure Pass, which is available only to Nassau County residents for $25. A Leisure Pass, which is good for three years (lifetime for those 60 years of age and older), provides discounts for fee-based activities in the Nassau County Parks system.

Those interested in participating can sign up at Christopher Morley Park or at the Nassau County Aquatic Center (516-572-0501) in Eisenhower Park in East Meadow through August 1. For more information, call Katie DiPietro at (516) 572-0521.

Christopher Morley is a hilly, tree-lined 98-acre park located on Searingtown Road (Exit 36 north of the L.I.E). The park includes a newly renovated playground; basketball, handball and tennis courts; baseball fields; a nine-hole golf course; an ice-skating rink; and heavily wooded nature trails and a fitness trail. For information about the park, call (516) 571-8123.
