Assessment Review Commission Meeting Notice

The Nassau County Assessment Review Commission reviews and corrects assessments for property tax on application by the owner or other taxpayer. The commission meets every second Thursday of the month at 4:00 p.m. in Room 341, One West Street, Mineola, N.Y. 11501, except in the month of March. In the month of March the commission meets on the first business day of the month, which is the date specified by law for hearing of complaints and the last date on which applications for correction of assessment may be filed, and on the last business day of the month. These meeting are open to the public. Additional information is available by calling the commission's office at 516-571-1584. Applications for correction of assessments may be filed on forms prescribed by the Assessment Review Commission from the publication of the tentative assessment roll on January 2 until March 1, or the first business day thereafter if March 1 is a Saturday or Sunday. The Assessment Review Commission reviews timely applications for correction of assessments throughout the year from March 1 until a date in March of the following year. Upon completion of its review, the Assessment Review Commission notifies the Department of Assessment of the corrections to be made to the final assessment roll, which is published on the first business day of April. Applications for correction of assessment may be filed by electronic means described on the web page, or by U.S. mail, a private carrier approved for federal and state income tax filings or hand delivery to the offices of the Department of Assessment at 240 Old Country Road, Mineola, NY 11501.
