Merrick Resident Appointed to the Board of Assessors

(Mineola, NY) Nassau County Assessor Harvey Levinson today announced the appointment of Thomas P. DeJesu to the Board of Assessors.

Mr. DeJesu, who currently serves as the Director of Government and Regulatory Relations for the KeySpan Corporation, is an attorney with over two decades of service in the public sector.

A graduate of Hofstra University School of Law, Thomas DeJesu served as the Regional Director of the New York State Department of State and Executive Director for the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA). In addition to his current position with KeySpan, Mr. DeJesu serves as the Director for the Route 110 Redevelopment Corporation.

Mr. DeJesu was appointed by Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi to fill the vacancy that resulted when former Board member Jeffrey Gold resigned to accept an appointment to the Assessment Review Commission.

The Board of Assessors is comprised of four County Executive appointees who are selected to represent the interests of the three towns and two cities in Nassau County. Mr. Levinson, who was recently elected as the County Assessor, serves as the Board’s chairman. The Board is responsible for establishing policy and supervising the administration of the Department of Assessment’s Real Property Services.

The 2004 Board of Assessors includes: Harvey B. Levinson, Chairman; Dennis L. Brown, Vice Chairman; Thomas Paul DeJesu; Michael G. Norman; and, Michael M. Freeman.

“Mr. DeJesu is a highly respected public affairs professional who will bring a unique perspective to the Board of Assessors and I look forward to working with him,” stated Assessor Levinson.

Mr. DeJesu resides in Merrick with his wife, Mary, and their two children.
