(Mineola, NY) Nassau County Assessor Harvey Levinson recently announced that the New York State Office of Real Property Services (ORPS) has awarded, for the second straight year, a $500,000 grant to Nassau County in recognition of the Board of Assessors’ commitment to perform annual reassessments that reflect the current market value.
In announcing the $500,000 State Aid for Quality Assessing grant, ORPS officials commended Assessor Levinson for his commitment to providing quality assessment practices that “meets the highest standards set by the State.” The grant was computed on $5.00 per parcel for each of Nassau County’s 406,603 qualifying properties and is the maximum amount allowable under current State aid guidelines. In order to meet the requirements of the grant, Nassau County agreed to maintain assessments at a uniformed percentage of the fair market value of properties on a yearly basis as part of a six-year plan.
“As the Director of Real Property Services for the County, I pledge that I will continue to work each day to ensure that all homeowners, businesses and property owners are assessed equitably and fairly in compliance with New York State Real Property Tax Law and ORPS guidelines,” concluded Assessor Levinson.
