Media Contact: Randolph Yunker - (516) 571-2490

(Mineola, NY)  Nassau County Board of Assessors Chairman Harvey Levinson will hold a public forum on assessment issues for homeowners residing in Wantagh on Thursday, June 15, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Wantagh Public Library located at 3285 Park Avenue.

Assessor Levinson will discuss his plan to cap all residential assessment increases by 6% beginning with the 2007-2008 Assessment Roll (the first roll not under the jurisdiction of the New York State Supreme Court), property tax exemptions and the STAR program, a proposal to end the school property tax, and explain how homeowners can calculate their individual school property tax obligation for the 2006-2007 tax year.

“If you are unable to attend, I will be happy to answer your questions regarding the assessment process or how to file for a property tax exemption through my E-mail at ncassessor@nassaucountyny.gov or by contacting my office at (516) 571-2490,” concluded Assessor Levinson.
