(Mineola, NY) To help homeowners learn more about the many property tax exemptions offered by Nassau County, Board of Assessors Chairman Harvey Levinson today announced that six (6) exemption brochures have been published and are now available for review in a printable Adobe Acrobat (PDF format) on the Department of Assessment Website:

Available brochures include “Facts about Veterans Real Property Tax Exemptions,” “Q&A about Home Improvement Property Tax Exemptions,” “Q&A about the Exemption for Persons with Disabilities and Limited Incomes,” “Facts about Senior Citizens’ Real Property Tax Exemption,” “Facts about the Volunteer Firefighter/Ambulance Worker Property Tax Exemption,” and “Q&A about the STAR Exemption.”

“As the administrator of all property tax exemptions in Nassau County, I have been able to help tens of thousands of home, property and business owners save millions of dollars off of their property tax bills each year,” stated Assessor Levinson. “To help homeowners take full advantage of these worthwhile tax savings programs, property exemption filings will be accepted and processed by the Department of Assessment year-round.”
