(Mineola, NY) Nassau County Board of Assessors Chairman Harvey Levinson recently held a property tax exemption forum at the Elmont Memorial Public Library to help area homeowners take full advantage of the many property tax exemptions that he administers. The property tax exemption outreach program is the first of its kind in Nassau County whereby the Department of Assessment utilizes specially configured laptop computers linked to the county’s database enabling staff to process applications (for Basic and Enhanced STAR, Veterans, Senior Citizen, Volunteer Firefighters and Ambulance Workers, Limited Income Disability, and Home Improvement) on-site.
