NASSAU COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS HOSTS CAMPAIGN FINANCE SEMINAR
Republican Commissioner John A. DeGrace and Democratic Commissioner William T. Biamonte announced today that the New York State Board of Elections will conduct a Campaign Finance Seminar on Tuesday, June 8 at 9:30 a.m. at the Freeport Recreation Auditorium, Merrick Road, Freeport.
Commissioner DeGrace said, “We are delighted once again to host this valuable seminar on financial filings. The seminar is open to all filers as well as officials, including town and village clerks, members of legislative bodies, and heads of all municipalities in the county interested in creating or maintaining political campaign committees.”
The seminar will focus on compliance with the campaign financial disclosure law, its requirements, and how it affects filers. Procedures on how to electronically transmit financial statements to the state will also be discussed.
New York State Election Law requires that candidates and committees disclose all financial activity made in connection with their campaign, their support of candidates, committees, and ballot proposals. Disclosure reports are filed periodically in accordance with the political calendar promulgated by the State Board of Elections.
“Committees and treasurers will receive letters announcing the June 8 seminar,” Commissioner Biamonte said. “It is our hope that we will receive an overwhelming response to this seminar and the opportunity for candidates and treasurers to learn more about campaign finance and proper reporting procedures.”
There are no fees or pre-registration requirements for the campaign finance seminar. Anyone interested in participating in the seminar, but not currently on the Nassau County Board of Elections mailing list, is encouraged to pre-register with the state at www.elections.state.ny.us.
