April 24, 2012 Presidential Primary Deadlinesil

 

VOTER REGISTRATION PRIMARY ELECTION

In order to vote in the Primary, you must be a registered voter. The following dates are the last allowable times for registration

MAIL REGISTRATION (N.Y. Election Law Section 5-210(3))
Application must be postmarked no later than March 30th and received by a board of elections no later than April 4th to be eligible to vote in the Presidential Primary.

IN PERSON REGISTRATION (N.Y. Election Law Sections 5-210, 5-211, 5-212)
You may register at your local board of elections or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act, on any business day throughout the year but, to be eligible to vote in the Presidential Primary, your application must be received no later than March 30th.

CHANGE OF ADDRESS (N.Y. Election Law Section 5-208(3))
Notices of change of address from registered voters received by April 4th by a county board of elections must be processed and entered in the records in time for the Presidential Primary.

2012 Voting by Absentee Ballot Deadlines

FOR PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY - Sec. 8-400

Last day to postmark an application by mail for an absentee ballot. Sec. 8-400 (2)(c)
Last day to apply IN-PERSON for an absentee ballot. Sec. 8-400 (2)(c)
Last day to postmark ballot. Must be received by the local board of elections no later than May 1st. Sec. 8-412(1)
Last day to deliver ballot IN-PERSON to the local board of elections (by someone other than the voter). Sec. 8-412(1)

MILITARY VOTERS FOR PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY - Sec.10-106

Last day for a BOE to receive application for ballot if not previously registered.

June 26, 2012 Congressional Primary Deadlines

November 6, 2012 General Election Deadlines

MAIL REGISTRATION (N.Y. Election Law Section 5-210(3))
Applications must be postmarked no later than October 12th and received by a board of elections no later than October 17th to be eligible to vote in the General Election.

IN PERSON REGISTRATION (N.Y. Election Law Sections 5-210, 5-211, 5-212)
You may register at your local board of elections or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act, on any business day throughout the year but, to be eligible to vote in the November General Election, your application must be received no later than October 12th except, if you have been honorably discharged from the military or have become a naturalized citizen since October 12th, you may register in person at the board of elections up until October 26th.
