COUNTY CLERK ANNOUNCES EXPANDED PAPERLESS FILINGS

(Mineola, NY)  Nassau County Clerk Maureen O’Connell announces the expansion of the NYSCEF (New York State Courts E-Filing) program in her office. Recently passed state legislation was signed by the Governor paving the way for the Nassau County Clerk’s Office to harness the full potential of this technological initiative.

Under the direction of County Clerk O’Connell, Nassau served as a pilot county in the early development of the NYSCEF program seeing consistent utilization by the legal community in Nassau County.  “As a pilot county for e-filing we have worked closely with the New York State Unified Court System to make this paperless filing system the success it is today.  With Governor Cuomo’s support, I am pleased to offer greater availability to e-filing’s streamlined, efficient, and environmentally friendly case management system.” O’Connell said.

Using the NYSCEF system could not be easier.  Not only does it allow legal practitioners to file and then access their court documents from any location with an internet connection, it also affords them the convenience of a 24/7 virtual Clerk’s Office.  Additionally, as a green initiative, electronically filed documents eliminate the need for court records to be produced, transported and maintained in paper format.

The Nassau County Clerk’s Office currently accepts the majority of Supreme Court cases for filing through the NYSCEF system. This next phase for the e-filing program will require certain types of court actions to be e-filed. Additional information on implementation can be found on the County Clerk’s website at www.nassaucountyny.gov/agencies/Clerk/index.html or by calling 516-571-2660.
