Thank you for taking time to write to my office. Your letter was very detailed and insightful. As the new Comptroller I appreciate and look forward to the concerns and suggestions of constituents.

You are correct in saying that addressing the assessment issues is a “Herculean task.” While it may be difficult to fix the current assessment system it is an area that needs to be addressed because it is costing the County nearly $100 million a year.

My highest priorities will be to streamline government and to help fix the Tax Assessment System. Last week my office issued an audit letter to the Tax Assessor's Office. We feel that there are millions of dollars that can be saved in this area.

Once again I have reviewed your suggestions and appreciate your input.
