COMPTROLLER WEITZMAN CALLS FOR ADJUSTMENTS TO
NEW YORK’S SCHOOL AID FORMULA
"Every child on Long Island deserves a first-class education. Nassau County receives the lowest level of school aid in the state, according to a study my office conducted in 2004. This unfair treatment adds considerably to the strain on our taxpayers and shortchanges our children. The state must remedy this inequity by adjusting its school funding formula, and not by adding to the burden of Nassau's property taxpayers, who are already the highest taxed in the state."
