COMPTROLLER WEITZMAN SUPPORTS SUOZZI INITIATIVE TO SAVE CRADLE OF AVIATION

“I welcome the County Executive’s leadership in the fight to save the Cradle of Aviation Museum.  This museum, celebrating Long Island’s pivotal role in world aviation, is one of Long Island’s great cultural resources.  County Executive Suozzi’s approach is exactly right, recognizing that the museum must redouble its fundraising efforts rather than seek additional support from the county, which has already provided extremely generous subsidies.  If new board members can be identified who will agree to raise or donate $100,000 each, and other donors identified to raise an additional $1 million, that should be sufficient funding to allow the museum to weather its current financial storm.
