WEITZMAN APPOINTS NEW MEMBER TO AUDIT ADVISORY COMMITTEE
Nassau County Comptroller Howard Weitzman has appointed Louis C. Grassi, of Old Westbury, to his Audit Advisory Committee.

“Lou has extensive professional experience in the finance, accounting and business industry and will be a great asset to the Audit Advisory Committee,” Comptroller Weitzman said. “As a CPA whose accounting firm is based in Nassau County, he brings an important perspective to the audit advisory committee.
Mr. Grassi is the founding Partner of Grassi & Co., CPAs, located in Lake Success. He was also a member of the transition team for the previous comptroller, and board member of CPA Mutual Insurance Co.
The seven-member Audit Committee is one of a handful of such committees providing independent financial advice and oversight to counties in New York State. Comptroller Weitzman established the committee in 2003; it is similar to the private sector audit committees required under the federal Sarbanes-Oxley Act. The Committee consists of five volunteer experts and two government officials. The Comptroller and a director from the county’s external audit firm, Deloitte & Touche, also attend each meeting. Service on the committee is pro-bono.
Besides Mr. Grassi, the other members of the Audit Committee are:
Robert A. Wild, (Committee Chair) Chairman and Managing Partner, Garfunkel, Wild & Travis, P.C.; Terence Smolev, (Committee Vice Chair), Partner, Forchelli, Curto, Schwartz, Mineo, Carlino & Cohen LLP; Lee E. Launer, retired partner, PriceWaterhouseCoopers; Vivianne Hernandez, Managing Partner, Bridging Strategies; Ana Sousa, Deputy Director of Management Initiatives, Nassau County Office of Management and Budget, serving as designee of the County Executive, and Aline Khatchadourian, Nassau County’s Deputy Comptroller for Audit and Special Projects, serving as designee of the Comptroller. |
