The NYS Law Chapter 430 of the Local Law of 2003 of the General Municipal Law authorized the County of Nassau to regulate the registration of Taxicabs, car services, Black Cars and Limousines by ordinance

The law reads as under:
Fees:
A charge of $750.00 per vehicle shall be charged and $350.00 for all renewals per year. However with an exemption, that of a Jurisdiction outside the County of Nassau that reciprocates with the County in permitting taxicabs, limousines or livery vehicles register by Nassau County to operate within such jurisdiction the fee shall be $5.00

As a show of good faith by the County of Nassau, NCTLC will accept the above-mentioned jurisdiction for the 2004-2005 TLC Registration for a fee of $5.00.  However, if by the end of May 6, 2005, no such reciprocate agreement is in affect, then all fees revert back to the law of $350.00 per vehicle with a $250.00 charge for each additional year.

The $5.00 fee shall remain in affect until May 6, 2005 at which time the grandfather period will be over.

Q. Can I still register my FHV with the NCTLC if I live or work in a municipality that does not license FHV’s?

A. Yes!
