Suozzi/Gaffney Announce Project Liberty On Long Island
Nassau County Executive Thomas Suozzi and Suffolk County Executive Robert Gaffney, joined by members from various mental health agencies on Long Island, today formally announced Project Liberty programs throughout Nassau and Suffolk County.

Project Liberty is a program that provides free crisis counseling services to those who have been affected by the September 11 World Trade Center disaster and has already reached nearly 70,000 downstate New Yorkers.
The program, sponsored by Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA), offers one-to-one and group counseling services, including educational sessions about the signs post-traumatic stress as well as group counseling and outreach programs at schools, houses of worship, and other community locations. The New York State Office of Mental Health, along with the Nassau County Department of Mental Health, is administering Project Liberty.
