Mineola, N.Y. - Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi, joined by Nassau County Sheriff Edward Reilly, Commissioner of Social Services Robert Sherman and Legislator Joseph Scannell (D-Baldwin), today announced the successful arrests of 13 individuals who owe close to $150,000 in unpaid child support. "Under the direction of Undersheriff John Maguire, "Operation Deadbeat Parents", extended from Manhattan to Suffolk County and consisted of 90 warrant execution attempts, which resulted in 13 arrests.

"We are sending a message to the deadbeat parents of Nassau County: Pay up, or you will pay the consequences," said County Executive Suozzi. "Nassau County intends to hold these offenders accountable.

"This is the start of an aggressive campaign authorized by County Executive Suozzi two weeks ago to recover the over $1,180,000 in unpaid child support owed to the County."

"I applaud the efforts of the Sheriff's Department for cracking down on Nassau's deadbeat parents," said Legislator Scannell.

All individuals were arraigned today in Nassau Family Court. The operation resulted in no injuries to law enforcement officers or to those arrested.
