Baldwin, NY – Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi, joined by County Legislator Joseph Scannell (D-Baldwin) and County Legislator Kevan Abrahams (D-Legislative District 1), today announced that the County will spend nearly $225,000 toward the beautification of Grand Avenue in Baldwin. The completion of this project will mark another significant capital project advancement for the County.
“This section of Grand Avenue will undergo a streetscape beautification which will enhance the neighborhood community and improve the quality of life in Baldwin,” said County Executive Suozzi. “I am glad we were able to assist the Nassau County Legislature, particularly Legislators Scannell and Abrahams, to provide the necessary funds to complete this project.”
"This project will increase community pride, while also being a boom to local businesses," said Legislator Scannell.
"The members of the legislature have been supportive of this project throughout the process, and I am pleased that a new streetscape for Baldwin will soon become a reality," said Legislator Abrahams.
The capital project’s improvements were started the end of last month by the Nassau County Department of Public Works and are expected to be completed by October 2005. Approximately $225,000 will be spent on construction, which includes concrete sidewalks, concrete interlocking pavers, new brickwork, benches and Victorian style light poles.
The streetscape improvements will take place between Village Avenue and just south of Stratford Avenue. This is a Community Revitalization Project that is being funded as part of the County’s Capital Improvement Program.
