Mangano Announced Clear Skin Salon And Color Me Beautiful Partnered With Long Island Volunteer Center For The "Fairy Godmother" Experience

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announced that Clear Skin Salon and Color Me Beautiful partnered with Long Island Volunteer Center (LIVC) to host a “Fairy Godmother” Experience to collect items for this spring’s 18th Annual Prom Boutique where gowns, shoes and accessories are distributed to high school girls who need them in order to attend their prom. The collection of donated prom items began on February 8th and will continue through March. Become a “Prom Fairy” with a donation and join Clear Skin Salon and Color Me Beautiful in supporting the Long Island Volunteer Centers Prom Boutique event.

“I am proud to support Clear Skin Salon, Color Me Beautiful and Long Island Volunteer Center in their efforts of making prom more affordable for young girls who would otherwise not be able to incur all of the expenses that go along with attending their \ prom,” said County Executive Mangano.

Acceptable donated items include: new or gently used formal dresses of all sizes and colors, gloves, wraps and shawls, dress shoes, special occasion purses, formal jewelry and hair accessories, un-opened hosiery, as well as un-opened make-up, perfume, and hair products. Once the collection period commences in March, the LIVC will then distribute all dresses and accessories, free of charge, to girls from families across Long Island who cannot easily absorb the expense of a new gown for their proms.

In 2011, more than 1,200 girls from 60 different schools and youth organizations benefited from the Prom Boutique. High school guidance counselors, at-risk youth agencies, group homes, and church outreach groups all made this program available to their constituents, and have helped make it a success.
