Mangano Welcomes Swingtime Big Band To Eisenhower Park’s Lakeside Theatre
Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano has announced that Swingtime Big Band will perform at Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park on Monday, July 2nd. The concert will start at 7:30 pm and is free of charge.
Dedicated to the performance of America’s greatest popular standards, Swingtime Big Band is a 20-piece authentic swing band comprised of master interpreters of music from the Swing Era. An ensemble that specializes in performing original arrangements of Big Band classics, concertgoers will be entertained with music from the Great American Songbook and watch as a combination of reeds, brass and rhythm are vividly brought to life. With authentic recreations of the timeless swing music of such great Big Band leaders as Count Basie, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Harry James, Woody Herman, Les Brown, Charlie Barnet and Stan Kenton, patrons are sure to be thoroughly entertained throughout the evening.
Much of the programming at the Lakeside Theatre is made possible through the Nassau County Hotel/Motel Proceeds Grant, which are proceeds from taxes on hotel and motel rooms in Nassau County. Since 2006, Nassau County has received more than ten million dollars from the Hotel/Motel Proceeds Grant, which also has assisted in historic building restoration and other cultural enhancements.
Conveniently located within Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre is an outdoor venue positioned near Parking Fields 6 and 6A. Because there is no formal seating at Lakeside, concertgoers are urged to bring folding chairs or blankets to enjoy the show. Special accommodations are available for persons with disabilities, including reserved parking, accessible restrooms, and a convenient reserved location on the hill. Assistive hearing devices are also available at no cost for the hearing impaired.
