Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi, Legislator Edward Mangano (R-Bethpage), and Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto, recently discussed redevelopment plans for the 101-acre former Grumman property in Bethpage. The property in Bethpage was officially transferred from the Navy to the County on April 3, 2008, pursuant to Federal legislation enacted when a weapons plant formerly located on the site closed. The County sent out a Request for Proposals in June and selected Steel Equities in November 2008. Suozzi has marketed this property as a center for biotechnology, nanotechnology, development of alternative fuels and homeland security. The property is expected to be transferred in spring 2009.
