District Attorney Kathleen Rice’s Statement on Hockey Incident at Nassau County Coliseum

“After completing a thorough review of the on-ice incident that occurred during the March 8 game between the New York Rangers and the New York Islanders, my office has declined to criminally charge New York Islander Chris Simon. In reviewing any incident for potential criminal prosecution, this office assesses the injuries to those involved, the willingness of the potential victim to support a criminal prosecution, and, most importantly, the impact the prosecution would have on the safety of Nassau County’s residents. Based on those factors, this office has declined to file charges in connection with this incident.”
