Westbury Man Guilty of Robbing Local Bank

Williams convicted of robbing Westbury bank, assaulting manager who tried to stop him

MINEOLA, NY – Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced today that a jury on Thursday found Adrian Williams guilty in the robbery of a Westbury Bank of America branch, and then assaulting the bank’s manager when he intervened in the robbery.

A jury took less than three hours to find Williams, 42, guilty of Robbery in the Second Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, and Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree. He faces up to 15 years in prison, and will be sentenced September 9.

Rice said that on the morning of April 25, 2007, Williams entered the rear entrance of the Bank of America, located at 248 Post Avenue, Westbury, jumped behind the counter and stole $7,120 from the teller registers. While on his way out, the bank manager intervened and grabbed him. The two men fought, eventually reaching the rear of the bank, when other employees assisted the manager and held Williams down until police arrived. The manager suffered minor injuries.

“Mr. Williams learned that robbery and assault will not get you rich, but that they will send you to prison,” Rice said.

ADA Anna Acquafredda of the DA’s County Court Bureau is handling the case for the District Attorney’s Office. Williams is being represented by Dana Grossblatt, Esq.
