Hempstead Man Guilty of Molesting Best Friend’s Son
Johnson assaulted the 6-year-old for 2 ½ years at his home and three Nassau County hotels
MINEOLA, NY – Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced today that a jury has found Victor Johnson guilty of sexually abusing the young son of a friend for nearly two-and-a-half years, often while babysitting the child.
A jury took nearly two days to find Johnson, 44, of Hobbsville, North Carolina, guilty of two counts of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the First Degree, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. He faces up to 25 years in prison, and will be sentenced September 17.
Rice said that between November 2003 and June 2006, Johnson sexually assaulted his best friend’s son both at Johnson’s then-Hempstead home and three Nassau County hotels where the child and his father were living. The assaults often took place when Johnson was watching the child when his father was out.
ADA Silvia Finkelstein of the DA’s Special Victims Bureau is handling the case for the District Attorney’s Office. Johnson is being represented by the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County.
