East Rockaway Woman Gets Probation for Poisoning Ex-Roommate with Visine

Anzalone pleaded guilty to assault charges after giving ex-roommate a laced beverage

MINEOLA, NY – Nassau County District Attorney Kathleen Rice announced today that a judge has sentenced an East Rockaway woman to three years probation after the woman admitted in July to lacing her ex-roommate’s drink with Visine.

Kristine Anzalone, 25, of East Rockaway, pleaded guilty in July to misdemeanor Assault in the Third Degree. Anzalone must also pay $10,205.20 to cover the victim’s medical bills.

Rice said that on June 14, 2006 in her North Bellmore apartment, Anzalone poisoned a male roommate’s beverage with Visine after a dispute about the apartment’s living arrangements. The victim suffered vomiting, diarrhea, pain and difficulty breathing and sought treatment at North Shore University Hospital.

Assistant District Attorney Robert Schalk of the DA’s County Court Trial Bureau is handling the case for the District Attorney’s Office. Anzalone is being represented by Nancy Bartling, Esq.
