DILLON ANNOUNCES:

INDICTMENT IN COP IMPERSONATOR MURDER

Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon announced today the return of a four-count indictment against Reginald Gousse, 31, of 238-55 148th Drive, Rosedale. Gousse has been indicted on one count of Murder in the First Degree and one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Felony), both Class A Felonies, one count of Attempted Robbery in the First Degree, a Class C Felony, and one count of Criminal Impersonation in the First Degree, a Class E Felony.

According to Dillon, "the indictment alleges that on January 5, 2005 at approximately 7:06 p.m. Reginald Gousse shot and killed and attempted to rob James Gottlieb while pretending to be a police officer in an unmarked car. The incident took place on Semton Boulevard in Franklin Square. Gottlieb was transported to Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre, where he died at 8:14 p.m."

Gousse will be arraigned by Nassau County Court Judge John Kase on March 22, 2005. If convicted, Gousse faces life in prison without the possibility of parole..

The charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
