DILLON ANNOUNCES:

VEHICLE AUCTION TO BE HELD OCTOBER 6TH

Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon and the Nassau County Police Department announced today that a motor vehicle auction will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2005, beginning at 10 a.m. The auction will take place at the Eighth Precinct of the Nassau County Police Department, located at 286 Wantagh Avenue, Levittown. Vehicles will be available for inspection at that site beginning at 8:30 a.m. October 6th.

A total of 51 vehicles will be auctioned, including a 1998 Lexus, 1991 Nissan Maxima, 1994 Chevrolet, 1994 Cadillac, 1998 Buick, 1992 Acura Integra, and a number of other vehicles.

According to Dillon, "The vehicles are assets forfeited from defendants arrested by Nassau County and local Police and successfully prosecuted by my office. The money raised from the auction will go to the County and State to benefit the law-abiding public. Thirty three (33) of the vehicles were seized from DWI offenders, ten (10) from those who sold and possessed drugs, two (2) from robbery and larceny defendants, one (1) from a defendant that sold marijuana, and five (5) from such assorted crimes as rape, counterfeiting and weapons possession."
