DILLON ANNOUNCES:
ARREST OF MELVILLE ACCOUNTANT
Nassau County District Attorney Denis Dillon announced today the arrest of Gerald Kudler, 64, of 26 Wilmington Drive, Melville. Kudler is accused of defrauding a North Bellmore resident out of approximately $45,000.
According to Dillon, "On February 4, 2004, a North Bellmore resident gave the Kudler, his accountant, $25,000 to invest in commercial real estate. At the time Kudler promised a rate of 9.25% on the investment. On February 19, 2004, the victim gave Kudler an additional $20,000 to invest. At this time Kidler promised a 10.50% rate of return."
"Over the next year, Kudler made four payments of interest of $363.64 each and one payment of principal of $2,500, but, despite demands, has failed to repay all of the interest and principal he promised to the victim," said Dillon. "An investigation by my Criminal Frauds Bureau has revealed that Kudler has used all of the victims money to pay for personal expenses."
Kudler , has been charged with Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony, punishable by up to 7 years in prison. He will be arraigned later today in First District Court in Hempstead.
The charges are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
