FAQs:
What is WAGE$?
The WAGE$ program assists people in recovery to find and maintain employment. At WAGE$ an applicant’s job aptitudes and abilities are assessed to try and match the applicant with appropriate employment opportunities. WAGE$ provides job readiness groups that cover job-related topics such as work attitudes, obstacles to employment, application completion, resume and interview preparation, and job placement. Once an applicant obtains employment, WAGE$ continues to provide vocational counseling and peer support groups.
How do I apply to WAGE$?
If you are in treatment in a substance-abuse agency or are being treated by a private therapist, a referral form must be completed by the treatment agency or therapist and submitted to WAGE$. WAGE$ will work with your counselor to get you ready and accepted to WAGE$.
What kind of job will WAGE$ find for me?
As a client at WAGE$ you get to actively participate in your vocational plans. Your individual skills are assessed, and you work closely with the job developer to select a job in your field of interest. WAGE$ has established connections with over 200 employers on Long Island, and the job developer is always seeking new employers through the Internet, job-related agencies and contacts in the communities.
