Eight Lucky Families Win Affordable Housing Lottery in Hempstead Village
Mineola, NY- Nassau County, in partnership with The Village of Hempstead Community Development Agency, Hempstead Heights Civic Association, LDC, Middle County Resource Management, and the Long Island Housing Partnership offered eight new, affordable homes priced at under $167,000 “Homeownership is one of the primary initiatives of County Executive Suozzi,” stated Peter Elkowitz, president of the Long Island Housing Partnership. What makes the Remsen Mews of Hempstead lottery such a prize is that it offered eight lucky families, homes that would otherwise cost over $300,000.
As part of its allocation, Nassau County provided the land and over $600,000 in HOME funds for development of these eight affordable homes. In addition, through County Executive Suozzi’s initiative, each home owner will benefit from $10,000 set aside last year by the Nassau County First Time Homebuyers Assistance Program.
Remsen Mews of Hempstead consists of four single-family detached homes and four attached town homes. The detached homes include three colonial style homes and one ranch home is in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The Nassau County Homeownership Center offers pre and post mortgage counseling and financial fitness for all prospective applicants. Please call Ron Moss at 516-571-0375 for details on other programs that may also be available.
