There will be some fee increases in accordance with the revisions to Article XXII “Schedule of Fees” of the Nassau County Fire Prevention Ordinance. These fees increases were enacted by the Nassau County Legislature by Ord. No. 66 approved June 18, 2012 and Ord. No. 193 approved Aug. 8, 2012. The Nassau County Fire Marshals Office is required by Local Law to collect fees for certain services offered to the public. These fees are associated with the Plan Review, Inspection, and Testing of new Fire & Life Safety Systems, the Modification or Alteration of an existing Fire & Life Safety System, the Licensing of Certain Fire & Life Safety Contractors, the Licensing of Certain Hazardous Materials Handlers, the Licensing of certain Cutting and Welding Processes, the Permitting and Registration of certain Underground Tanks, the Required Annual Fire Safety Inspection of certain businesses and institutions, the Annual Emergency Lighting / Generator Test of certain occupancies, the Permitting of Commercial and Residential Fire Alarm Systems, and the Permitting of Commercial Tents.

The Nassau County Fire Marshals Office does NOT collect fees for Hazardous Materials Emergency Response, Fire Origin & Cause Investigation, Juvenile Firesetter Intervention Program, Most Routine Annual Fire Inspections, Fire & Life Safety Complaints, and Public Education & Community Outreach.
