DIRECTOR OF EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS
A search is being conducted for a qualified candidate for the position of Director of Employment Programs which provides employment services to Temporary Assistance recipients.
Position Description:
Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates programs for employment of public assistance recipients; develops policy recommendations; performs related duties as required. The duties require the use of considerable independent judgment in implementing and administering employment programs and supervising subordinate supervisory personnel.
Training and Experience:
1. Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university; -and-
2. Eight years of satisfactory experience in employment or vocational activities, including four years in an administrative capacity.
Residency Requirement:
Must be a legal resident of Nassau County for at least one year preceding appointment, and then maintain that residency until appointed from the eligible list established as a result of open-competitive examination.
Starting Salary:
Starting salary is $62,524; after 6 months of service, salary increases to $70,860 (plus benefits); after 1 year of service, salary increases to $92,127.
Important Note: Additionally, in order to be considered for this position, interested individuals must file for the Open-Competitive Civil Service examination, which is being held on October 3, 2009. The filing deadline for the Examination is August 25, 2009. Applications for the Examination must be filed directly with the Nassau County Civil Service Commission, 40 Main Street, Hempstead, NY. 11550, by no later than August 25, 2009. Prior to filing, carefully review the minimum qualifications to ensure that you meet them, as there is a non-refundable processing fee for the Exam. Further information concerning the Examination and filing requirements may be obtained directly from the Nassau County Civil Service Commission.
