Summer Internships for Students
During summer months, a limited number of paid summer internship opportunities are available for college and graduate-level students in the office of the Nassau County Comptroller.
“Students interested in pursuing careers in government, accounting, finance, and law will gain valuable experience and insights working for the Nassau County Comptroller’s Office,” Mr. Weitzman said. “In past summers, our interns have worked in many different areas of county finance and governance, and have made a real difference. For instance, our summer interns were involved in launching the NassauRx prescription discount card, and participated in the research behind this office’s decision to audit special taxing districts. At the same time, the interns have a chance to gain valuable experience in the operations of local government.”
As Nassau’s fiscal watchdog, the Comptroller is responsible for monitoring the county’s budget and financial operations, reviewing claims and contracts, and auditing county agencies and contractors. The Comptroller also administers payroll and health benefits for the County.
Those interested in being considered should email a resume and a brief cover letter explaining what they hope to gain from the experience to: nccomptroller@nassaucountyny.gov. Only Nassau County residents may apply.
Resumes must be submitted before January 30, 2009.
