“Flu illness is widespread in our region.  The Nassau County Department of Health has obtained a shipment of influenza vaccine from New York State Department of Health for use in protecting the public. We are advising those residents who have not already had the flu shot to get one. Individuals should contact their health care provider to see if the vaccine is available. The Nassau County Department of Health Flu Vaccine One-day Program at the William P. Bennett Hicksville Community Center is centrally located in Nassau County and readily available to everyone.   In addition, Nassau University Medical Center’s four community health centers at Hempstead, Elmont, Westbury/New Cassel and Freeport/Roosevelt are offering flu immunizations during their regular hours,” said the Nassau County Department of Health Commissioner, Dr. Maria Torroella Carney.
