Health Department Staff Honored for Their Service to Families in the Village of Hempstead

In honor of "Community Health Worker Day" on June 7th, staff from the Nassau County Department of Health's Community Health Worker Program were presented with a well-deserved proclamation from the Nassau County Board of Health, recognizing their 10 years of service to families in the Village of Hempstead. Community Health Workers seek out underserved pregnant woman and their families in the Village of Hempstead who have no health insurance or who are not receiving adequate health care during their pregnancy. They assist these pregnant women and families with young children in obtaining appropriate health and social services.
