Due to the continuing heavy rainfall, the Nassau County Department of Health is closing the following eleven (11) beaches as a precautionary measure, effective immediately:

On the North Shore: Bar Beach Hempstead Harbor Park Beach Laurel Hollow Beach Sea Cliff Beach Tappan Beach On the South Shore: Biltmore Beach Club Beach Harbor Isle Beach Hewlett Point Beach Island Park Beach Merrick Estates Civic Association Beach Phillip Healey Beach

Stormwater runoff can have a negative impact by elevating bacteria levels that are used to assess bathing water quality.

Sampling will be conducted by the Health Department to determine when the beaches can reopen.
