Media Advisory - Rabies Vaccines
With five rabid raccoons confirmed in Nassau County, the New York State Department of Health and the United States Department of Agriculture, Wildlife Services (USDA) will be distributing raccoon rabies vaccine by hand today Friday, 9/10, and by helicopter Tuesday, 9/14, to protect residents from rabies.
What:
9/10: Trucks will be dispensing rabies vaccination bait
9/14: Helicopter will be loading raccoon rabies vaccination bait
Where:
9/10: 150 Miller Place, Syosset (north service road of LIE)
Next to the Town of Oyster Bay Animal Shelter sign
9/14: Republic Airport, Route 110, Farmindale
When:
9/10: 1:00 p.m.
9/14: 9:00 a.m.(weather permitting)

Who:
Amy Willsey, DVM, NYSDOH, will be directing the operation and will be available for comment
Why:
To control terrestrial rabies and protect residents.
