Due to heavy rainfall, the Nassau County Department of Health has closed the following 23 beaches as a precautionary measure, effective immediately, July 8th:

All 18 Nassau County North Shore BeachesandOn the South Shore in Nassau County:

• Biltmore Beach Club Beach
• Hewlett Point Beach
• Island Park Beach
• Merrick Estates Civic Association Beach
• Phillip Healey Beach

Stormwater runoff can have a negative impact by elevating bacteria levels that are used to assess bathing water quality.Sampling will be conducted by the Health Department to determine when the beaches can reopen.
