2006 B. E. A. T. S. Conference
(Bringing Education About AIDS To Students)

North Campus

Over 200 students from various Nassau County high schools and Hofstra University will be attending this conference and health fair covering HIV prevention, risk-reduction strategies and the importance of knowing their HIV status.

  • Young people should think again if they think that HIV/AIDS is over.


  • There is still no cure for HIV/AIDS.


  • Although there are better treatments and people with the virus are living longer, the medications are expensive and have many side effects.


  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that over half of all new HIV infections in the United States are in people under the age of 25.


  • Young people need to get the facts and, if they are at risk, get tested.
