Nassau Beaches Open

21 of 23 Open; 2 Remain Temporarily Closed

The Nassau County Department of Health has allowed 21 of the following 23 beaches to reopen, effective today, August 9th.

All 18 Nassau County North Shore Beaches*
and
On the South Shore in Nassau County:

Hewlett Point Beach
Island Park Beach
Merrick Estates Civic Association Beach

These beaches had been closed as a precautionary measure due to stormwater runoff. Water sampling conducted by the Health Department indicates that water quality is within acceptable levels.

On the South Shore in Nassau County, the following two beaches remain closed due to continued elevated levels of bacteria.

Biltmore Beach Club Beach
Phillip Healey Beach
