Nassau County To Hold MRSA Meeting
with School Superintendents

Due to the heightened awareness of MRSA (Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus,) Nassau County Department of Health will be holding an informational meeting with school superintendents  from Nassau’s  57 school districts TODAY, Wednesday, October 31st at Nassau University Medical Center.   Deputy County Executive Dr. Mary Curtis and Health Department officials will hold a two-hour meeting which will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the hospital amphitheater.

As of today, Wednesday, October 31th, there have been 15 confirmed cases of MRSA, two cases are under investigation, plus Nassau Community College is notifying their school community and families of approximately 60 teenagers attending an afternoon wrestling camp clinic that an out-of-county teenager attending this program was diagnosed with MRSA.

The confirmed  cases are located in the communities of: Baldwin, Farmingdale, Massapequa, Massapequa Park, Long Beach, Hicksville, Glen Cove,  Westbury, Levittown, Rockville Centre, Garden City, Elmont, Bethpage and Roosevelt (2 cases.)  In addition, Molloy College, Adelphi University and Nassau Community College have notified their school communities of cases attending their institutions.
