Beach Closings

Due to heavy rainfall, the Nassau County Department of Health has closed the following 10 North Shore beaches and as a precautionary measure, effective today, June 24, 2009.

North Shore Beaches

Bar Beach

Creek Club

Centre Island Bay               

Centre Island Sound

Laurel Hollow Beach

Piping Rock Beach Club

Ransom Beach

Roosevelt Beach

Stehli Beach

Tappen Beach

Crescent Beach in the City of Glen Cove and Philip Healey Beach in Massapequa remain closed due to elevated bacteria.

Storm water runoff can have a negative impact by elevating bacteria levels that are used to assess bathing water quality.
