Abrahams named to Long Island Business News’ “40 Under 40” list
Nassau County Legislator Kevan Abrahams (D-Hempstead) has been named one of the Long Island Business News’ 40 Under 40 Award winners for 2010. The honorees, all under the age of 40, are chosen based on their career achievements and dedication to their community. Legislator Abrahams and the other 39 awardees will be honored by the LIBN at an award ceremony and dinner on Thursday, January 28, from 6:00pm-10:00pm at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.
“I am truly honored to be recognized by the Long Island Business News for my achievements as a legislator in Nassau County, however, the fact that this award notes my commitment to my community is what makes it especially meaningful,” said Legislator Abrahams, “I would also like to send my congratulations to my fellow 40 Under 40 honorees.”
Those who qualify for the 40 Under 40 award are individuals who show success at an early age, and so it’s not surprising that Abrahams was named to this impressive list of honorees. He was also featured in Ebony Magazine in 2004 as one of “Thirty Leaders Who Are Under 30.” He was first elected at age 27, becoming the youngest legislator ever elected to the Nassau County Legislature as well as the youngest African American elected in the state. As an elected official of Nassau County, Abrahams has helped local businesses grow and prosper, and continues to show support for such revitalizing projects.
