Legislator Troiano Honors NCPD 3rd Precinct Heroes
Nassau County Legislator Robert Troiano (D-Westbury) presented County honors to the Nassau County Police Officers who saved the life of a Westbury resident trapped in a burning house. Lesley Berman was rescued from the second floor of her burning home by Third Precinct Police Officers Charles Javorowsky, Mark Iovino, Brian McQuade and Daniel Doerrie. Lesley’s husband, Bryan, had tried to rescue his wife but couldn’t because of the heavy smoke and fire. Upon their arrival on the scene, the police officers ran into the home without hesitation or equipment and rescued Lesley.
They were transported to Nassau University Medical Center where the officers were treated for smoke inhalation; Lesley was treated for burns and smoke inhalation. Legislator Troiano commended the officers for bravery and service beyond the call of duty in saving Lesley Berman’s life.
