Legislator Troiano Launches Prospect Ave. Construction Project
Surrounded by state, local and federal officials, County Legislator Robert Troiano (D-Westbury) [center] recently announced the start of a major reconstruction project in the New Cassel area to revitalize Prospect Avenue. Financed by American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds as well as additional federal grant money, the revitalization will transform the existing 1.2 mile, four-lane main road into a two-lane thoroughfare complete with a landscaped center median. The redesign will include bicycle paths, on-street parking and pedestrian furniture.
“This long overdue project," Legislator Troiano said,” will greatly enhance our community. Not only will we see better traffic flow in New Cassel, we will make this vital avenue safer and more accessible to pedestrians and bicyclists. I thank all my governmental colleagues who helped make this dream a reality."
