Legislator Corbin Commends New Cassel Environment Justice Project For Efforts
Nassau County Legislator Roger Corbin (D-Westbury), presented Albertha Fraser, and Jesus Cabrera with a county citation to commend them for their efforts with the New Castle Environment Justice Project.
“The New Cassel Environmental Justice Project was born out of the need to advocate and educate the communities about the environment they lived in,” he said. “The need to educate and advocate for clean water, air, and a clean environment continues to be a crucial and necessary role, for we only get one chance to keep our surroundings and our health pollutant free. I am hopeful that community residents and science scholars will be interested in keeping the mission alive by helping to keep the project open and giving their time and knowledge to improve the health outcomes of all communities- we cannot afford to ignore our environment and must work to keep the project active.”
New Cassel Environmental Justice Project was established in 1996 to monitor the clean up of the super fund site in the New Cassel Industrial Area and to educate residents about the health risks associated with living near toxic pollution.
