Corbin announces down payment assistance for first time homebuyers

Nassau County Legislator and Deputy Presiding Officer Roger Corbin (D-Westbury) joins with the Nassau County Office of Housing and Intergovernmental Affairs (NCOHIA ) in announcing the Home Down Payment Assistance Program for first time home buyers.

"This program can help make the American dream of homeownership a reality for first-time homebuyers," Corbin said.

The County will provide 50 percent of the total down payment and a minimum of $3,000 towards closing costs, Corbin explained. The total of both down payment and closing costs cannot exceed a maximum of $10,000 for income eligible applicants. The eligible homeowner will be responsible for the remaining 50 percent of the down payment and the remaining closing costs. A down payment is defined as the difference between the purchase price and the base mortgage. All homes must be purchased within Nassau County.
